Volunteers Are Key to Our Success and Sustainability
As a volunteer, you will:
- Meet others and build relationships here in your own community
- Share your skills and your time
- Make a positive difference in someone’s life
- Have fun while giving back to your community
There are many ways to volunteer with HAH.
Volunteering with HAH can take many forms—from offering a few hours on a regular basis, to lending a hand at special events. For those interested in deeper involvement, there are great opportunities to take on leadership roles.
HAH is volunteers! Please use the form on the right to sign up for any and all areas that interest you:
- Community Resource Connection – Share information about community resources and services. Help conduct home assessments for our Home Repair Team.
- Construction/Repair – Assist with home repairs to help keep older, lower income members of our community safer, warmer and drier. Lend a hand with small repairs – clocks, lamps, etc.
- Social Connection – Reduce isolation by making weekly phone calls, writing friendly notes, or supporting HAH-sponsored community activities.
- Cooking/Baking – Provide meals and social opportunities through HAH’s food programs – Lunch with Friends, Meals in a Pinch, Cooking a 43º North or Cooking with Friends programs.
- Driving – Offer no-cost rides to appointments, run errands, other activities for those without access to transportation.
- Leadership – Coordinate a HAH program or committee, respond to community needs through events and initiatives.
- Creativity – Contribute to HAH programs with Harpswell TV, photograph or film events, design outreach materials, or share other artistic talents.
- Writing/Editing – Help communicate and raise awareness about HAH through creative outreach.
- Social Media – Support HAH’s communication efforts across social platforms.
- Volunteer Recruitment/”Friendraising” – Help invite and welcome new volunteers.
- Computer/Technical – Support data collection and residents with basic computer questions.
- Listen and Record – Capture life stories and oral histories to preserve for future generations.
Community groups are key to HAH! We are always looking for groups to join in the fun by partnering with HAH to cook and participate in our Lunch with Friends events. Groups like neighborhood associations, road associations, local businesses community-based organizations (garden clubs, book groups, sports groups, civic groups, non-profits, church groups, etc.) are needed.
