HARPSWELL, Maine — When powerful storms struck Bailey Island last January, they left a trail of destruction. For resident Gayle Hays, the memories are still vivid.
“There was debris all the way up,” Hays recalled. “People were pretty much isolated. There were trees down. We had no power.”
The storm left many feeling trapped and unprepared, highlighting the need for better resources and planning.
