DESCRIPTION:Christmas Eve dinner in many Italian-American households features only fish—no meat is served. For some families\, that means cooking up a feast—specifically\, the Feast of the Seven Fishes. Thought to represent the seven sacraments or the seven hills of Rome\, the menu usually includes some well-known fish and seafood and some lesser known species\, special for the holidays. In this wonderful working waterfront community\, it seems only right to celebrate our fishing heritage and share how to make some dishes that highlight our local fish. Monique Coombs\, Maine Coast Fisherman’s Association\, and LeAnne Grillo will partner to show you how to make some traditional Italian fish dishes. Come learn about our local fisheries and do some cooking and tasting. Some are not able to consistently prepare meals because of health\, ability\, or mobility; others have difficulty obtaining food for practical or financial reasons. There is no income qualification–only a recognition that we all need some support at times. Whether an ongoing situation or a temporary need–like after a surgery or illness–Harpswell Aging at Home has meals available. Emergency meals can even be provided on the same day if necessary. SUMMARY:Cooking Thai: Healthy Food Without a Sigh
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to cook delicious AND healthy food?  Thai food is some of the healthiest in the world and this hands-on workshop with Stacy Standley will show you how easy it is to prepare at home. Hot\, sour\, salty and sweet tastes are all rolled into simple cooking procedures.  Many Thai dishes are vegan because of the cuisine’s reliance on fresh vegetables and most are dairy free\, except for eggs.  Stacy will demonstrate how to make basic salad dressings and dipping sauces and together you’ll prepare some of her favorite dishes like Tom Yum Soup\, Thai Summer Salad\, Crispy Thai Chicken and Apple Salad\, and Easy Pad Thai\, but there will be much more! Bring your apron! \nOnce you get the basic ingredients in your kitchen (and Stacy will advise of local stores or you can grow many of the vegetables in your own garden)\, you’re onto a new and fun way of cooking that’s good for you\, the family and guests. \nQuestions:  Email Karin Soderberg: karmardalin@gmail.com \nPlease note: This will be a hybrid event.
